field camp.

lol this is going to be a less ranty sort of post although it's about army. of course there won't be details - but it doesn't hurt to know that i just spent 6 days out there in the fearsome jungles of pulau tekong in tropical singapore.

we did lots of stuff and when there was action going along, i must say i pretty much enjoyed it. especially at night because that was where there were real differences between life in the jungle and in uh, any other civilised area.

doing small or major business was a very tricky prospect though. many a time i wake up at odd hours with tsunamis rushing through and i get totally miffed when i try to locate the toilet. on hindsight it's exciting but then i think it's uhh..

actually looking back on anything in army is interesting. i think it must be some kind of perverse interest that i have. i get easily amused when i think of myself going through all that torture, but i'm all the more prouder that i survived it.

okay fine so did millions of other recruits.

and i got to learn many more things about myself this field camp. the officers say if you haven't failed before, you won't be a good soldier. to be a good soldier you need experience. and experience is something you get when you screw up.

i bet you've heard that one before. and anyway that means i have no shortage of experience.

okay i hope i'm still learning things. my basic arithmetic just got put out of order when i cleverly assumed that $1 and $1.50 makes $3.50. don't laugh, it's bloody serious and my brains are turning to mush if i'm not careful. even if i am there's no difference.

ah well. so many things are happening at once, and time is jumping by the weeks. soon bmt will be over, and i'll be left wondering what lies ahead and where the hell these 9 weeks went.

every weekend i book out i get elated seeing the people i haven't seen for a month, or at least that's how it feels. but those out there just take it like they haven't seen me for a week, which is what the reality is.

army distorts reality. that how a same period of time could actually be so different to different people. you might not be seeing me for one week, but i might not have seen you for a month. field camp was like three months.

am i talking cock, by the way?

the last line was an inside joke from leopard coy. sorry if you didn't get it. the SAF isn't sorry that i don't get enough sleep anyway, and i shall do my best to remedy this IA.

yet again another inside joke. goodnight.

navy seals ftw!~
