first day at work!

13 NOV 2009 is my first day at work as a civilian! after 20¼ years of studying, armying and not working in a civilian capacity, today can be considered a milestone in my life.

it happens to be friday the thirteenth. though the sort of luck i've been having lately is unbelievable. some say it was coming all along (ORD), but well, there are other things that have transpired lately which leads me to believe that the stars are smiling upon me.

firstly, mahjong session with my ser.. - oops i mean ex-sergeants. i barely picked up the game and the last two times i played i flopped so badly that i lost to people who.. also barely picked up the game. of course some argue mahjong is about luck. which is the whole point actually.

oh wait, if i haven't mentioned it (dang, i had to read through my post once to find out) - i ended up pwning them all. won the most from the session which was really a surprise, since i planned to minimise my losses by feeding the person with the least tai LOL!

secondly, i've got a super duper airy fairily good job! it just came all of a sudden and that's how i found myself working today. i won't say too much but.. i'm really glad i gave the civilian world a chance. my working environment is great and after reflection i'd rather be a lowly ACC ASST, B COY than PL COMD, CCC.

thirdly, i'm very happy for no reason. maybe it's because of the new job or something but i'm just HAPPY and i CANNOT EXPLAIN IT. i guess the magic of ORD lasts far and beyond, and hopefully it won't end up like anaesthesia after a wisdom tooth extraction.

anyway today was a coincidental day. i met like, three different people at three different places. no.1 was a certain ex-lieutenant giving out flyers. haha i was refusing the flyer when suddenly i realised he looked kinda familiar - and after some prolonged staring we both came to the conclusion that yes i've seen this guy before.

turned out to be one of chenkai's upperstudies. and it's nice to know so long after ORD (his, not mine - i'm still a civilian freshie), i'm still remembered as the "ARR dude". haha.

after that when i went to orchard to meet mq, i had the unfortunate chance of bumping into an acquaintance whom i wasn't sure if it was the person - but if it was i really should not be seeing the person. nonetheless, another coincidence.

last but certainly not least i saw another long-time ORD personnel, sg recruiter TOBBIE. we had a not-too-short chat about stuff and i actually found out he works near me! NICE. that means a possible lunch partner haha and i'm looking forward to it.

oh speaking of which, tanjong pagar is really an imba place for lunch. what with maxwell, amoy, lps, etc. i think my lunch breaks are too short alr haha. thankfully i still have two weeks or so more to go, therefore it's time to indulge in some culinary delights.

all right i think it's too LATE (1:27am) again. grr can't get into the habit of sleeping early. wanted to blog more about random stuff but guess that just has to wait. i've said enough about this wonderful, wonderful day. were this feeling to last forever i'd be the most contented person on earth. can't think of anything else to describe this amazing feeling.

i am sooo thankful for my life now. ORD LOH!
