two good things.
there is no sunset more beautiful than the one i see out of the stained glass window of the long-suffering 975 that seems to puff its way out of lim chu kang road everytime i take it. of course the 975 that is choa chu kang bound. that's one good thing.
the other was an incident that happened today. as i walked out of braddell mrt this dude comes running up to me and shouts "sir, sir" and i retracted immediately because of the implications of the way he addresses me. there are only three groups of people who call me sir.
the first being The Salesman. insurance idiots, sales skunks, desperate dudes trying to make a sales pitch to me. like "sir, we're not trying to sell you anything but.. etc. etc."
the second being my specialists. "sir, off leh." and shit.
okay the third doesn't really count. my men. and you can bet everytime a member of the second/third group call me i'd be hesitating if it was going to be a piece of good news or yet another thing to bother me. though of course it's not their fault.
and of course in camp the one that calls me by name is bloody worse than hearing my specs/men. it's a harbinger of SAI KANG. so anyway back to the story. it turns out this guy was somewhat of a volunteer and he takes out a bookmark that says "thank you for your time".
i was about to politely decline and screw off as i do to most annoying salesman but as i was in no particular hurry i decided to hear him out. surprisingly he just turned the bookmark around, advised me to go visit a website, and that was that.
i was left with the ultimate "HUH. what went on." kinda look. and i don't know why i was pleased but i met the kind of salesman i would be. ineffective but not annoying. so i like.
143 more days.
