those little things.

so close, so close and yet so far..

let's start with a distraction. albeit a very good one. i heard this song on the radio yesterday (it had to be gold 90), and i instantly liked it. melodious tune, imba lyrics and enough to make anyone's hair stand with its.. intensity, for lack of a better word.

this has got to be the song of the month.

the video is also awesome, incorporating cute pictures and love quotes. i'm not a great fan of mush, but this is really good stuff.

"love the heart that hurts you, but never hurt the heart that loves you" - vipin sharma, some indian actor probably no one knows of hahaha.

collecting classic oldies is becoming more and more of a headache for me. there are too many good songs to unearth, and the one-hit wonders you've heard somehow somewhere before are super hard to find.

anyway it's the beginning of the second half of the year (tmd!) - and i still find i have too many things on my to-do list. when school starts i don't know how i'm going to cope. plus my ill discipline doesn't seem to be helping.

so far this is what i have/want to do:
- start fitness regime
- play the piano more often
- start on my german again
- ORD movement stuff (zomg)
- transfer my files to the laptop
- find tuition (double zomg)
- a bit of rag and stuff
- watch world cup (!!!!!)
- cycleeeee (super long alr)
- project sticky wallet
- create my database of old songs
- some tcs initiatives

i'll never ever be done with all of those. anyway after the long post about biz camp, i'll now move on to post-biz camp stuff.

25 june, friday
biz camp hangover - i slept 10 hours to make up for the past two weeks, and even though i felt real good about myself, i had to drag myself to work. since it was a friday, everyone went for extended lunch and i ended up reading the papers for the world cup matches i missed.

i never like to talk about work because work is work and will always just be work. how interesting can work get, i ask you. the only positive of the day was that i found out an rj girl from my batch (1989!!) is an intern there. yay so now i'm not the only young rj there..

you gotta take consolation from this kinda facts even though it really doesn't change your life by a lot. i could think "OMG she's a bain intern and she's the same age as me" but that would be negative thinking. i've had enough of that in army.

so i finished work on time, and went home to begin my laze-around routine. i can never, ever do proper things when i come back from work. it's now worse with world cup because i'd just lie down on my sofa in office attire from 7:30pm and couch potato till 12 midnight. then maybe i'd go online and waste more time.

and before i know it, it's already..

26 june, saturday
and a talk cock session with chew, junda and yuk has begun. the current hot topic is world cup bets, so we were wondering how to make our money work for us. rather, how to make the football teams miles away earn money for us.

btw i must say world cup betting is the most exciting shizz you can ever have in your life. can you imagine having $100 riding on a match that's fast-paced, end-to-end and you won't know whether you're getting your money back? the feeling is insane.

for the record, i don't have that experience. i only bet $20 at most. know your limits, they say. know my limits, i do. hahaha.

anyway after awhile chew said he was going to shower (talk about ill discipline, he's worse than me). we were like NOOOOOOOO. at the same time he felt hungry - so i suggested we go out for supper. junda was agreeable to supper; and actually all of us were. in one of the most spontaneous acts of my life, we proceeded to a macs outlet at 2am to catch spain vs chile.

the place was pretty crowded, but actually most macs were. the world cup fever had totally caught up, and despite having a slight fever myself i was not to be undeterred to enjoy a good match. we spent most of the time talking crap and having fun, but the wager i had with chew towards the end of the match had to take the cake.

with a series of consecutive corners in the 60plus minute region, i decided to be bold and offer him a bloody outrageous bet. i predicted there would be no more corners for the rest of the match, and asked if he wanted to offer me 10 to 1 odds.

chew, being the gambler that he is, took up the offer. i put my 50cents on the table and expected it to be gone in a flash. it wasn't even sufficient to get him an ice cream, but adding 20cents he could have. the last 25 minutes were probably the most tense moments of the match for chew, as he shouted excitedly when the ball travelled anywhere near the line.

but lady luck was on my side, and i was 5 bucks richer 25 nail-biting minutes later. so he ended up paying for my double double-cheeseburger and apple pie. quite wtf.

we stoned at a coffeeshop till dawn, and i slept till 3pm - a new record for me. celebrated my father's dinner at night, and we went to catch yet another match at suntec. as i mentioned in the last post, my days are meaningless parts of my life, for all the meaning in life was in the evenings.

this time it was uruguay against south korea, and thankfully they served up an exciting match for us to watch. i was really pleased for catching two good matches in a row. i slept soundly after going back that night.

27 june, sunday
i am a fan of the deutschland fussball bund - and today promised the most exciting match-up: germany vs england. sunday soccer was a normal affair - myself still playing sloppy football after the long break i've had. luckily, my adopted team at the world cup played nothing like i did.

despite having a wager on germany to win on penalties, i was thoroughly pleased to see the mannschaft demolish england 4-1. england are overrated, overhyped and overestimated all the time. the three lions? those sick cats couldn't put up a fight against geylang united. i was glad to see them go. hope heskey never plays another international again.

germany meets argentina the next round. most punters don't give germany a chance. i say we'll see about that.

28 june, monday
nothing is worse than dragging yourself to work after a good soccer match. fortunately, my 8 months' experience made it pretty brainless for me to carry out my duties. i spent the first half of the day thinking about germany vs england, and the second half on the night's match: holland vs slovakia.

i am really football crazy.

i won $12.50 on the holland match, though i dare say it could have been $33 if not for a silly last minute penalty given away by the dutch keeper. i don't know WHY THE HELL matches are so easily lost at the last minute. it's not fair. then again i still won money so no complaints.

29 june, tuesday
as mentioned, work is work and will always be work. paraguay played japan that night and i was treated to the worst match in football EVER. even though it eventually went to penalties which i really enjoy, these two crap teams simply disgusted me.

ugh let's not even talk about it.

30 june, wednesday
met tania and yf for lunch. i didn't know they all worked kinda near me. it was good meeting up with ex-classmates, although we never did talk much in the past. quite interesting haha. now that all my temp friends have left shenton way, i have one month to contemplate who am i going to have lunch with.

and knowing that most of the time the answer would be "no one", i figure i could just mull over my life during lunch. that's not sad btw, it's called taking stock of one's life. with a new OG, old friends coming back and keeping constant contact with current friends - some prioritisation and smelling the flowers is in order.

tonight was the first night without a world cup match. i suffered badly. and i ended up wasting time on msn again. i shall hope this is the last time.

post-biz camp has been largely eventful, albeit mostly with world cup matches. i'm still not getting as much rest as i want, nor am i accomplishing as many things as i want.

but i bob along anyway and before i know it school will start. that's life i guess.

and tomorrow there's a mouth-watering clash between holland and brazil. now THAT, is the GOOD LIFE.
