HAHAHA WTH?
two months after ORD. and now it seems even further than ever.
DRIVING PASS!!!!!!!! wckljahfuiewgfwesacf
and i don't know where to start but it's OMG amazing amazingggg because after my first stop at the circuit (slope) i was like 99% confident i was gone case and already thinking about parking without poles in march.
BUT THE SPIRIT OF THE UNDERDOG LIVES ON.
i'm not going to put the whole story here cos who gives a damn anyway. all that matters is that i definitely counted at least 40 points, and definitely more than 20 in the first 2 minutes. i was already consoling myself in the car when i tried to restart my engine for the fourth time at the f**king slope.
so either the tester loves me, i was lucky or both.
and so it was definitely both. CONFIRM.
that said, you may stop reading on in case i accidentally start to brag. which i might very well do since i've passed and clearly today is my day. except for the fact i saw YANKEE KILO HOTEL (mq take note!) in the morning and i thought "wa shit that's a bad omen". oh plus the previous day i saw GERTARD.
talk about bad omens?!
yea so anyway this is rather disjointed. but during the test i must give thanks to all the people i've spoken to before; especially those who gave tips on ubi, general driving tips or just sharing their experiences. it's a mixture of all these that i survived the test.
the most important lesson was never to give up even though you might think you have failed. i didn't try to do any epic or spectacular to rack up 2 million points as some others have lol. really worked like a dog to keep those wheels moving and the engine from stalling.
it's pretty funny looking back now. during the test i actually missed my instructor's nagging and his hand on the steering wheel, despite me finding it FKING ANNOYING before. i could have sworn i heard him say "heavy braking, 4 points" when i suddenly braked at the circuit.
and the road test was kinda fast. i thought it was because i was a foregone conclusion. then on my way in the tester was like "okay let me down now, you can park here" when i was still turning into the box.
then i saw yihong. a familiar AND friendly face - which i haven't been getting for the past two days lol. so my luck began to change.
i smsed jz and chew to tell them that i thought i'd failed. i saw another candidate with her tester going through with her one long list. when my tester finally called me i was just downcast and all ready to go home.
but he said something to the effect of "you barely passed. you made many mistakes and your driving is not good. better go improve."
and i felt like kanzaki in resurrection round after the 9th round results came out. no thanks to the akiyama who was the tester. he behaves exactly like one, just told me to made payment then he scooted off.
and after that nothing much was interesting, except i took a really unglam photo for my licence but given the fact that i didn't even expect to get one i couldn't give a damn. all those taking tests in future BRING NETS + A NICE PASSPORT SIZED PHOTO.
yuk says that passing driving on the first try feels like commissioning. i can't agree more. my heart is bursting and i feel like i need to shout badly. it might only be 5 months, 24 lessons and 6 circuits but it sure cost a damn lot of money.
i'll miss sunday mornings listening to gold 90 while driving around tp. won't miss the circuit at all. will miss my instructor's rantings about the govt. won't miss his latecoming and toilet breaks. will miss 70km/h roads. won't miss payment at the end of the lesson.
gee i really can't stop going on and on you know?
oh but ANYWAY i think i must mention this. like alessandro diamanti has helped west ham out of the relegation zone, i have rid my instructor of the "UBI CHAMPION" tag (check dec 27 entry: 15.6%). i am therefore pleased with myself in more than one way. but i deserve it.
the underdog has no expectations, so there's nothing to lose being one.
life isn't a fairytale; but my driving experience certainly was.
