explorer report.
today l'explorateur decided to take a leisurely walk downtown, and the findings are as follows:
1. there's a money changer which offers very good rates just outside chinatown mrt station (people's park side, exit B i think). i forgot the name but it starts with a C, ends with a Z and has 6 letters.
2. people's park food centre has mediocre food. or at least the teochew stall selling giant fishballs does. i was proud of my heritage so i went to try it; but i wasn't proud of my lunch today.
3. it's no more than a fifteen minute walk to get from outram park to chinatown. so don't get lazy.
4. further down the line at the far exit of chinatown mrt station (exit A?) - near the junction where eu tong sen street meets havelock road/upper pickering street, there is 1 x pancake stall which sold HUGE exotic pancakes for 70 cents. the durian flavour was $1.20 though. i don't know how it tasted like because i wasn't hungry lol. but it looked like value for money.
5. for a free drink, stop by central @ clarke quay. some new jap restaurant with 6 letters starting with "w" were handing out 350ml bottles of water. i was pleasantly surprised, for i was about to buy a drink. (2 week promotion only lol)
6. SMU on a school day reminds me of rj.
7. orchard central is really BIG ASS. it has like 11 levels of stores? and a hell lot of random crap. there's a nice stationery/random thingum shop on the 6th level.
8. orchard hasn't changed much.
okay i didn't walk back as the road on would be too perilous. anyway on hindsight when i checked the streetdirectory map it looks like i missed chinatown's great eating places.. by a grand total of one road. i should have crossed the road to gain access to culinary heaven.
then again if i knew everything there wouldn't be much to explore.
i shall carry on!
