indifference.

the wisdom tooth experience wasn't all that bad, really. despite whatever i had described in the last post, the pain lasted a total of approximately.. one day?

actually, you can put it to twelve hours. from 11am to 11pm on the operation day itself. after that i went to sleep and when i woke up everything was all right. half a day.

i'm quite amazed at how it heals. the human body is a wonderful thing. the only fact i bemoan was that if it were to be even more wonderful i wouldn't get my wisdom teeth in the first place. then there would be no need to extract those little silly bits of enamel.

nonetheless this "block leave" was more productive than the last, starting from the fact that i didn't need to go down to marine parade to listen to a sales pitch. i stoned at home for most of the time.

that MIGHT sound rather unproductive, but i'm pleased to say i kinda packed my wardrobe. threw out a hell lot of old stuffs, so now it's packed full and not overflowing. another thing i also kinda picked up was a bit of cooking. mostly soup dishes like noodles and porridge.

it's nothing great but at least it's a start. shut up if you think it's pathetic. it kinda is in my opinion lolol. but it tasted very goooood and i suppose it's always like that when you're doing the cooking.

the rest of my block leave was spent rediscovering my penchant for building civilisations and destroying them; occasionally seeing my creation getting razed to the ground as well. otherwise i wouldn't have spent so much time on it.

yea i don't even know why i bother to blog about this - it's so mundane. right after my "block leave" did i begin to do uh, more meaningful stuff. like going up to dempsey with timo shiwei and justina. and having some of the best food i've ever had that week. (except my own lunches.)

but yea what can one really expect when all i've been eating is soft stuff haha. the barracks café did serve up a variety of exotic food though, like the one metre sausage (which could have been THICKER) and skinny pizzas. maybe i haven't been eating out enough.

a great dessert place too. i'd recommend it for a good one-time experience. and actually good for a few more experiences before i leave my comfortable bunk in sungei gedong and not earn my measly 1030.80 a month.. only to be replaced by a blank nothingness.

maybe that's why i feel like shit sometimes. or maybe a more viable reason is that i have almost a full week in camp ahead of me. ******!

i booked in last night for calvin peh's last day. if not for him i wouldn't even bother bloody booking in. but he did not disappoint; for the moment i walked along the corridor i saw the ORD personnel in question.

"SIR SIGN MY CLEARANCE FORM LE"

then i knew my book-in had not been in vain. at least i could have prevented a hat-trick chain of command absence. okay i shouldn't be talking about this, but anyway it just goes to show no one gives a shit about NSFs. except NSFs themselves :)

i am proud to be one.

anyway the mysterious heartache that was plaguing me all the way back to gedong (sounds like book-in blues) vanished when Spec King turned up. we kinda had a good chat before bedtime.

this morning i went for a 4km run despite my aching legs. it was then i really felt stupid. and then i went back to my office to clear my mail. WHOA IT WAS HORRIBLE.

i wonder how many people think i'm actually SIGNIFICANT and IMPORTANT such that they have to cc me and keep me in the loop? i ignored most of the sai kang and flagged a few important ones.

and then i signed clearance and got the hell out of there for my dental appointment. my life seems busy now with all the small things, civilian and military. this transition is making me all trepiditious and wondering what lies beyond the sheltered life.

i mean so far i've been institutionalised. all the way from kindergarten to NS. the ORD is my first sign of The Great Beyond and it represents a whole new unknown.

that said, i still want to ORD. cos this whole new unknown will last a total of eight months before i get back into yet another institution. and so it goes.

okay and i've arrived to the part of the post where i realise i don't know what point i'm trying to make. perhaps there isn't one. there isn't a need to have a point for each post i make. it's just that somehow in life you got to reflect.

and voila, i have reflected. and i decide to do nothing about it at the moment. i am feeling indifferent.

on a totally random side note, my bunk is in a bloody mess. (spent FIFTEEN MINUTES doing a surface clean-up.) and i've only been gone for ONE WEEK. what the hell has happened to hygiene?

gedong is incredibly shitty. i want out.
