societal concerns.
i want to watch arsenal play the last 10 mins.
so anyway today chew and i went to town to buy party stuff. wasn't very successful because what chew thought would work, i thought otherwise and what i thought would work, chew thought otherwise. so in the end didn't really buy much. but we have great plans for monday.
and heard goon got 72 poppers - NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A PARTY, BABYYYY!
after getting ripped for dinner at the coffee club (chew kindly suggested), we went with an empty stomach to kfc LOL. the food was cheaper and i felt more full. then after that meal joined by yiliang we just had a walk round taka square and we ended up slacking at one side at the railings with the fountain directly below us. there were tons of ppl swarming the fountain at the sides, from senior citizens to little children.
and well children were taking plastic spoons and uh, playing with the water in the fountain. nothing's wrong with that, though i sincerely hope they didn't get those spoons from their mashed potatoes in kfc. one girl then threw her spoon in the fountain, wth. we saw a few brochures in the fountain, assumed to be contributed by some fagut litterbug. so when we saw the girl doing the disgusting act of littering, we shouted!
ngee ann city, being a hive of activity, naturally didn't give a damn if we shouted. any noise is noise and would just blend into the crowd. crazy. it was getting ridiculous, and somehow even though we were staring, there were more brochures appearing (mysteriously?) in the fountain. i wonder how coincidental was that.
well there was a little boy we were observing, using the plastic spoon to play with the water. like i said there was no problem with that. he then rubbed the spoon on his shirt several times, while his mother looked on. now i seriously thought that was sick, but nothing was wrong yet again.
then the little bugger went back to play with the water, and this time while doing so he managed somehow to slip some brochures in along as well. and he was trying to use the spoon to flick water all over the place. being morally upright civic-minded citizens, chew and i thought it good to shout at the boy. after all he seriously FRICKING LITTERED AND WAS SPURTING FOUNTAIN WATER ABOUT.
well guess what. we couldn't be heard. chew had half a mind to go down and spank the boy but then again, like he said "moral courage has failed us". we then recalled the wise words from our sec 2 ft, mr eng han seng. that the measure of a good and responsible citizen was one who had MORAL COURAGE. one who dared to stand up for WHAT WAS RIGHT.
still. i guess. sorry mr eng.
neither chew nor i had the balls to go down and spank the boy. though we would dearly love to do so. nowadays parents are so protective, and considering the mother didn't care about what her son was doing, i think their whole family is screwed up. bunch of inconsiderate faguts. wait till her son gets a cleaning job at taka or something.
i know i might not be the most morally upright citizen, but i certainly don't engage in such blatant littering acts. the most i'd do is aim for the dustbin from afar. and even so i pick my litter up. makes you think about what those littering fuckers are up to and what satisfaction they derive.
(no i'm not angry - i'm just cranky and finding a bone to pick)
next up on social issues and playing big boss - PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION.
as if we haven't had enough in rjc, today was part two of the excitement. i usually mind my business and i am VERY oblivious to my surroundings, but when you have your mp3 out of battery and nothing to mug in your head, you tend to look around more. so i did. and i don't know if it's me but suddenly the world seems to be IN LOVE and they seem to be wanting to SPREAD THE LOVE.
i feel i musta noticed easily 5 couples kissing on my way to the mrt and while waiting for the mrt. that's no joke, that's love for you. first couple was seen at shop entrance. now wth would you kiss at a shop entrance? would you consider it publicity for the shop? wasn't at some sleazy shop either, it was fricking isetan i think. departmental store. have they not heard of 好狗不挡路?
number two and three were random ones i don't know where. number four couple were fondling each other near the stairs of the mrt. now that one was stupid because walking in a crowd, i could hardly see in front of me and i was getting impatient. so when i increased my speed and found myself face-to-face with two people face-to-face, that was the ultimate scare i got. i backed off and quickly moved on.
number five was doing it in the mrt. they were standing right next to me so it was rather impossible not to notice. they didn't bother having any distance between them and from time to time they'd kiss, probably whispering sweet nothings in the intervals. retarded. they really have problems with self-control? how could they pollute innocent minds like mine?
anyway there's nothing wrong with showing your love publicly. it's just that i find it ridiculous should they want to do it in such close proximity to others. i don't mind the odd free show but to see them all over the place is kind of.. disconcerting. i don't know how to put it but seeing so many of them is too much to bear.
but like i mentioned earlier, i'm cranky so don't take too much notice of me.
i'm just trying to be a morally upright citizen of the nation.
no kidding, man.
can't wait to party with the navy seals on monday, already i can smell their freedom. i'm not sure if seals have an acute sense of smell and stuff but oh well, i'm all prepared to have fun. like zhuoyi indicated, i doubt there will be many free days such as this to come, so might as well enjoy all i can now.
navy seals ftw!~
