really, what can i say.
yesterday i was talking about zhang kahn. and today i will talk about jeremy chee.
life is an intricate balance. you don't want to constantly compare yourself with better people, lest you feel like shit. at the same time you don't want to compare with the shits all the time, because that's an excuse to be forever stuck in contentment, hindering your own progress.
i know i complain a lot about myself being unlucky and underappreciated. that is probably true to some extent. but MNO dictates that i should look at things from a less myopic standpoint and so thanks to prof david i don't find myself at NUS counselling centre.
things are nowhere near that bad anyway.
insofar (whoa check out my word combination skills from biz law and german classes!) in my life, and particularly in the past month, shit events has been coming my way in twos and threes. the chinese were right to say that 禍不單行.
thankfully the new year rolled around, and i spared no chances in telling everyone that this is MY year. some got the joke, some didn't. i couldn't care less.
i've had an excellent chinese new year, although my angbaos are dwindling as people start to wonder "who is this guy?" when i go visiting. life sucks now that i'm looking less like a boy. i don't want to grow up. it's a bloody pain.
then school reopened after a week-long hiatus and it's back to the grind. zhang kahn's inspiring card brightened me up yesterday, so i was pleasantly surprised to see another parcel on my desk after i did another "yj-vs-238".
i'm not a great fan of suspense, so i opened the package gingerly. as you can probably tell by now, it came from no other than jeremy chee. for someone whom you've known for only two weeks + the random meals out, he sure is keen and sincere about maintaining this friendship.
i predicted a rough week ahead. but now i have added motivation to fight through it. to be honest, the letters from afar wouldn't have really altered my plans for the week (ie working hard), but things are just different now.
some points in your life, you're just lost for words. i'm grateful for these little gestures.
and ahh the joys of life. 雙喜臨門 is an apt description of my current situation, and here's hoping for more to come.
back to work.
